Travels with my father

This October, Jeremy Howe, of Abacus Financial Options, will be travelling nearly 5,000 to embark on a five-day trek across The Great Wall of China.

Joining Jeremy on this epic adventure will be his youngest daughter, Zoe.  The pair are hoping to raise £4,000 for Julia’s House, a local charity close to the Howe family’s heart, that provide essential support for terminally ill children and their families.

Jeremy and Zoe will be walking part of the 13,171 mile wall as an inspiring tribute to daughter, and sister, Gemma, who sadly passed away. Jeremy and his family benefitted from this charity in the early days of Gemma’s diagnosis.

“This charity is particularly special as it does not just support the children with life threatening illnesses, it also provides vital support for all members of the family. Our family alone benefitted from the respite services and sibling support.

“Gemma will always be remembered for her beaming smile and big heart. She greeted everyone she met with kindness and love. This trip is a chance for us to give back to a service that really supported us, as a family, caring for Gemma. This once in a lifetime trek will also provide us some time to reflect and reminisce on the amazing times we shared with her!

“We will be extremely grateful for any donations- no matter how small!”

So far, they’ve both raised just over £3,000 –a truly impressive effort, I think you’ll all agree. What’s more, they’ve self-funded the trip so 100% of the money raised will go to supporting Julia’s House and the families who need their services most.

Jeremy and Zoe, we wish you the best of luck!
